I hope that more universities will consider reforms to actively lower the cost of tuition and take the guesswork out of earning a degree. There are successful, sustainable models out there already. It's simply not sustainable, but it doesn't have to be the end of broadly-accessible higher education in the US. We have 40 million adults in the US with college credits but no degree and tuition has surged for decades thanks to public disinvestment in higher education, a system of federal loans that encourages schools to raise tuition, and the desire to have resort-like campuses. Many of its residents are underemployed and the university helps working-class adults prepare for gainful employment. Like many cities in the U.S., Coventry is still recovering from a post-industrial slump - a car industry that never rebounded after WWII. The university doesn't offer athletic programs and the library's holdings are connected to subjects taught. Students have a set curriculum without lots of electives - therefore they don't waste time to earn a degree. The average age of students there is 35 and tuition is roughly $6,000 US Dollars thanks to a no-frills approach. Create a new paragraph (or modify an existing paragraph) and edit all the properties you want to go into the style (such as indentation, font properties, alignment, among others).I think universities like Coventry University represent the future of higher education on both sides of the pond.Let's use paragraph styles as an example. Some properties on these dialog boxes are described later in this chapter. Each style's dialog box has several tabs. Below is an example of the dialog box for a paragraph style.

The dialog box displayed depends on the type of style selected. To change an existing style using the Style dialog box, right-click on the style in the Styles and Formatting window and select Modify from the pop-up menu. To change styles in more than one document, change the template-see Chapter 10 (Working with Templates)-or copy the styles into the other documents as described in Copying and moving styles.Ĭhanging a style using the Style dialog box Any changes made to a style are effective only in the current document.
